She does, but they always looks fearful or judgmental in pictures to me. She was probably fearful she wasn't going to get fed. I can only get her to sit for pictures if her food dish is sitting above her on the counter. That would make her judgmental, too. emoticon

Okay, I won't. I know yesterday the site was exceptionally slow. I was not sure if it was my internet, (we had some very heavy rain storms moving through), or if I was here during maintenance.
Like Ginger, I do not think we can cut back on them enough without starving them. Because they have always sort of been chunky!
Ginger has lost 3 pounds in this whole foot ordeal. AND her fur looks horrible, very sickly. emoticon

Poor Ginger. Is she still walking around? Does she limp? Tomorrow's appointment will be interesting.

I think I am going to try giving Piper a diet dog biscuit in the afternoons. That afternoon biscuit all started when I could not get Lily to eat and needed an additional food source. The biscuits are 100% nutritionally complete, but they are pretty big, which was what Lily needed at the time. Now, I break that biscuit in half and give Lily the bigger half and Piper the smaller half. I think I will try giving Piper a diet biscuit instead of her half, but then I need to use up the smaller half. I may just give Lily the whole thing until I see what her weight does because of it. She always had the whole thing before Piper arrived. Isabel got a bowl of dog food in the afternoon. Piper would be too fat to walk if she got dog food morning and afternoon. She only gets 1/4 cup of dog food in the morning. I think that is too small an amount to split. The diet biscuits are also 100% nutritionally complete.

Re: Susa's Furry Family Members

She is still limping. But by reading my morning post, you will see why.
BUT, I loved the intern AND the doctor at WestVet. Both said, "it's okay, some cats are just that way." And both said they HAVE "chunky monkey's" themselves. And the Intern said she had tried for years to slim hers down, but nothing worked and they were both miserable. Now she just accepts that she has a "funny lil chunky monkey" (her words). emoticon

I think if she likes those "diet" biscuits, then she should get those. I mean my cats dry food is "INDOOR"....it's got less calories and helps with hairballs. But they like it, so they get that. And since the other 6 cats are NOT fat, and I've never had another "FAT" cat, except Ginger. She is going to keep getting what they all eat. emoticon

IF that WestVet was closer, they would be my vet. They are so freaking incredible. AND they have specialists right there. A radiologist, 2 surgeons, 4 doctors, 5 interns and 8 vet assistants! Plus staff that clean constantly and watch the animals in recovery!
AND the hospital is GORGEOUS! It has a separate "Feline" waiting room, so they are not freaked out by dogs peeking in the cages or barking.
They have nice bathrooms, a kids area away from the pets and a nice coffee, tea for free area and several junk food and drink machines. emoticon

That place sounds like the place I took Isabel right before she died. I loved that place and sure wish it were closer. It is an hour away, right near buckeyesue's house. The only thing I don't like about my vet now, is that he doesn't have the machines to do tests. He can do an x-ray, but not the more sophisticated tests and he is there by himself so if an animal stayed over night, there would be no one there to look in on her/him. That would be so not good.

I like that place's outlook on the overweight issue. There is just so much more to overweight than what the doctors of the world know.

Yes! They do sound the same! My vet here can only do x-rays too. AND we took a disc of her x-rays down, then they had to take their own. AND OMG! Their x-ray was so clear, I could see [sign in to see URL] vets was very milky looking.
That place had all the specialists, radiologists, lab, everything is right there in one building!
And the doctors can ask for a second opinion or second set of eyes and get it in just a few minutes.
Oh, trust me. If they were not 60 miles away, one [sign in to see URL] I-84 with crazy city traffic, I would so be going.

[sign in to see URL] my doc called about this prescription and more gabapentin. She sounded somewhat humbled. Even said, "I am so glad you all took Ginger there. I would never have caught any of that."
Maybe she got knocked down a little and won't be so condescending. emoticon

Piper didn't seem to mind at all. I still need to get some pictures of that toy so I can hunt for it. I have hunted and hunted through dog toys online, but haven't found it. It probably isn't made anymore.
