How I squashed Win-10

Remember that this desktop pc is less than six months old and HP pre-loaded Win-10 components which makes this pc Win-10 ready.

I ran the application ]Aegis and here's what happened shown in screen captures.
The Aegis app runs in the Windows Command box but it's written in plain script text.

There were two pages of uninstall KBs.

Step 4 thru 8 is the big one, be patient. It was a long time search, 20 to 25 minutes to finish.

There were 2 or 3 more blocking screens but you get the idea. I noticed this entry
"block [sign in to see URL]", this is Microsoft phoning home about all of my activity.
On the last blocking screen there was the word 'Done', I pushed 'Enter' to acknowledge and everything closed.

It was noted in the app instructions that you might have to run Aegis twice which I did the next day after shutting down for the night.

I think Windows re-downloaded most of everything when I rebooted after finishing that's why I wanted to run Aegis again.

Today there's a Windows advisory flag in my systray, I hovered it and it says to click here for new downloads, no way, ain't gonna do that. emoticon

Re: How I squashed Win-10

emoticon I hope it didn't uninstall anything you need!

Since I re-uninstalled 3035583 and hid it, and then when they went around that I uninstalled the Windows 10 download and then hid that, I haven't had any problems. If I do have problems, I will come back to this.

No, the app didn't uninstall or block anything I needed, it killed only everything pertaining to Win-10.

This is Aegis unzipped:

--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--

You start by clicking "[sign in to see URL]", that's the main component. This is the only cmd I ran.

Next is "[sign in to see URL]", I didn't understand the warning message but I think it meant not to rewrite any entry on it's cmd screen.
I didn't run it.

Next is "[sign in to see URL]" (Visual Basic Scripting), I believe this is a script writing tool for altering any command line.
I didn't run it.

The last 3 on the list are just extras.

[sign in to see URL] (set Access Control List) is the computer's file access/permission policy.
I didn't run it.

Since I'm now confident that Aegis only cleans Win-10's junk I'll set a new Restore Point and run [sign in to see URL] and [sign in to see URL].
It seems that Win-10 is still phoning home. emoticon

HG, it sounds like this is a good program!

I am sorry that Windows 10 is still phoning you.

If we can hold out until, I think, the middle of May, they will stop phoning. After that, Windows 10 is no longer a free program.

Re:

When Microsoft "phones home" it means that MS is communicating with headquarters for support and setting up new downloads.

The downloads/installs won't stop when the free offer ends, we will likely get nagged with big pop-ups for the buy version.

It's important to kill 'phoning home' ("block [sign in to see URL]") ,
disable scheduling tasks
Uninstall dialog tracker
disable/hide Windows 10 download directory
disable remote registry
block hosts (this blocks everything about Win-10 browser Edge)

If Microsoft begins a new tactic Aegis will update to counter it.
So the battle continues until someone surrenders.

Fun and games, eh? emoticon
